A formal European-style estate updated room by room — classic mouldings, drapery, and millwork kept intact while systems and finishes came up to a modern standard.

The owners wanted the house to stay unmistakably classic — panel mouldings, layered drapery, tufted furniture, warm lamplight — while everything behind the walls caught up with the calendar. We replastered and repainted the formal rooms, rebuilt the primary suite around a custom upholstered wall, upgraded electrical and HVAC throughout, and refinished the original millwork by hand rather than replacing it.
